Haiku [hy-koo].
Traditional Japanese unrhymed poetic form, usually consisting of 17 syllables arranged in form of three lines of 5-7-5 syllables respectively. Employs highly evocative observations, allusions, and comparisons, most often on the theme of nature.
While not everyone will concur with this, preferring a less formal, more freestyle construct, I have remained true to the convention with all the haiku in this collection. I have also, in the main, kept to the accepted traditional theme of aspects of the natural world, with only a handful of more whimsical offerings. I have also given each a title (with which purists will not agree), merely for ease of reference.
I hope you enjoy them all.
