Writing about an icon like Iona Miller is nearly impossible unless you travelled in the myriad of circles she did; spanning from the Brotherhood of Eternal Love and the drug-fueled sixties with Timothy Leary, to Israel Regardie and Phyllis Seckler and Thelema, and then to research labs of Asklepia, while pursuing cutting-edge arts and sciences, and still having time to explore underground music and future technology. Because I am less travelled, I was only provided a small window in which to know her. I'm not sure I can do it justice, even though I found our interaction profound and transformative. Now that she is gone, I only have these few memories to share. It is odd how much I care for someone I never met in person, but she was part of my writing projects, where I'm often creating from imagination, from dreams, from reaching inward. In a way, she was a player in my "dream life." It was like real-life sci-fi mixed with hopes, fears, joy, and planting seeds for the future. And maybe what comes out of that has yet to be seen. We often need to find our own meaning and direction as we grow in our strength and ultimate sense of purpose. Though I barely knew even a tip of her influence, it was a whirlwind experience and I found more in these brief years of knowing her that will last a lifetime.
