When John Hobart, and old friend of Constance Sweeny's, is introduced to Roland Mason, Attorney at Law, Mason takes an instant dislike to the man. Is it something about him, or does Mason see him as a rival for the affections of the widow Sweeny? Mason himself may not be sure, but events lead him to defend Hobart on the charge of attempted murder. The whole affair becomes more than just a trial, as the lives of Hobart and Mason are put in jeopardy, as well as the life of Constance Sweeny herself.
Roger L. Thomas was born in Illinois. His first real goal was to write science fiction, but when he became a computer programmer and ultimately an information technology project manager, he set aside writing science fiction when he started living it. Sports have always played a big part in his life, whether as a baseball player in college or an amateur baseball and softball umpire for 40 years. Although a casual bowler since age 9, he and his wife started bowling in leagues in 1978 and haven't quit since. The family- Roger, Becky, grown children Eric and Joanna, Joanna's husband Aaron, and granddaughter Elise- all currently live in or around Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs was the home of the late sci-fi writer Robert Heinlein, which may be the reason Roger has a sci-fi book in the works, as well as another mystery, and two more books on bowling.
