Description

Reframing Social Foundations of Education for a New Era: An Anthology of Works for Undergraduate Students provides readers with a carefully curated and enlightening selection of articles that introduce them to the interdisciplinary field of social foundations of education. The text prepares future educators to successfully and competently teach students in rapidly changing historical and social environments.

The anthology is organized into six units, which reflect key themes to help educators reframe social foundations for greater understanding and application in the modern classroom. The units explore current issues involving race and racism, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues, spirituality in education, philosophy and democracy in education, ecological literacy, and the education of marginalized groups. Throughout the anthology, readers are introduced to a variety of educational conundrums and are challenged to think critically and consider the challenges and opportunities that may arise within their future teaching careers. Each unit features an introduction from the editor followed by a collection of readings from an array of diverse, cross-disciplinary scholars.

Featuring engaging and essential readings for contemporary educators, Reframing Social Foundations of Education for a New Era is an ideal resource for courses and programs in education.
