Description

Guardians of Myth: The Scourge of Sangre Grande is a folklore and fantasy novel set in Trinidad and Tobago.

The story follows Mandira, a young woman who is mysteriously drawn into a hidden forest. There, she encounters Papa Bois, a shape-shifting spirit, and discovers a hidden village that is a past version of her hometown, Sangre Grande.

As Mandira explores this unfamiliar world, she learns about the dangers that lurk within the forest, including the threat of a soucouyant, a malevolent creature from local folklore. With the help of Papa Bois and a villager named Priya, Mandira must devise a plan to defeat the soucouyant and protect the village.

In the process, Mandira discovers that she has a special connection to the natural world and is destined to become a Guardian of Myth, a protector of the forest and its inhabitants; past, present, and future.
